With thoughts and insight from guest speaker Damica Lowe, here all about this subject in this week’s episode of the New IT podcast episode, “Women In Tech”.
“I think it’s changing now because there are a lot more programs for girls in tech. It’s being exposed more and I think it’s becoming more normal. However, it’s still hard because you always have to prove yourself because they feel like tech is the boys club, and you don’t belong… That’s just what it is because it’s a male-dominant field. And, honestly, every job that I have had in the past, once they got to know me, and once I proved myself, they’ll flat-out say, “We took a test on you and, you know, it was a gamble” like, they didn’t think I had the skills or the qualifications because I was a woman, and they’re surprised. It’s like they’re giving me a compliment, but it’s also an insult.”
